Our Mission: The Delaware Military Heritage and Education
Foundation Inc. will operate through a professionally qualified staff in a
suitable museum and educational facility within the limits of available
resources and in accordance with established museum and educational
standards and the requirements of Section 501c (3) of the Internal
Revenue Code. It will actively seek out and acquire material artifacts
and ephemeris associated with Delaware-related military units,
individuals, places, events, ships and aircraft of the uniformed services
to include active National Guard and Reserve elements of the Army,
Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, and
the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Corps. The
museum will interpret and display items from its collection to the public
generally, and cooperate with other museums by displaying material
from them or by loaning material to them, in order to create better
understanding of the personal values that underlie service in the
uniformed forces of the State of Delaware and the United States of
America and better appreciation for how that service has contributed to
the safety and security of a American freedom. The museum will
consider present and potential members of the uniformed services as a
special focus group for its outreach programs and activities.

About us: The Delaware Military Heritage and Education Foundation
was originally organized as the Delaware National Guard Heritage
Committee in September 2000, as an agency of the State of Delaware
under the Department of Military Affairs (Delaware National Guard
Circular 870-01). The organization was re-named in March 2005 to
widen our purpose and to be more inclusive of the military heritage of
all uniformed services. We achieved recognized non-profit status from
the IRS at that time. The committee shall be permitted, on behalf of the
Delaware National Guard, as provided by Title 20, Delaware Code,
Section 108, to “accept donations of money or property from any lawful
source to improve its capabilities.” Contributions to the committee are
tax deductible, as provided by Title 20, Delaware Code, Section 2601
and IRS Publication 17, chapter 26.
